Our five picks are the BMW i7 50 xDrive, BMW i5 LWB, Lexus ES 350h, Audi Q3 and Porsche Cayenne Electric, and the i7 is the one that surprised us most: it costs exactly the same as the petrol 740.

We checked each price and spec against the carmaker’s own India website or press release on 4 November 2026. That matters more than usual this year, because several launch prices have already moved. Where an OEM doesn’t publish a figure, we say so and name the source we used instead. All prices are ex-showroom, and this guide is built from official data, not our own road tests.

What 2026’s launches tell you

Launch headlines go out of date quickly. The Mercedes CLA launched at Rs 55 lakh and now starts at Rs 56.50 lakh on Mercedes-Benz India’s website. That is the clearest explanation we can see for the BMW 7 Series line-up, where a 455hp electric i7 costs the same Rs 1.95 crore as a 400hp petrol 740.

Claimed EV range isn’t comparable across brands. This year’s figures use WLTP, MIDC and ARAI cycles. The Rs 70 lakh gap between the two i7s is hard to justify unless you want the M70’s 680hp, and our assembled vs imported guide explains what the import route adds.

Audi: one bargain, one specialist

Model

Launched

OEM price

Output

0-100kph

Key fact

Q3

16 Oct

Rs 51,99,000 (introductory)

150kW (204PS), 320Nm

7.1 sec

quattro, assembled in India

SQ8

17 Mar

Rs 1,77,72,000 (introductory)

373kW (507hp), 770Nm

4.1 sec

4.0-litre V8

Audi India’s own release gives only the Q3’s starting price.
